To keep the association running smoothly, there is a board consisting of 5 people that are chosen yearly. The board is made up of a Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, Commissioner of Technical Affairs and a Commissioner of General Affairs. At the beginning of each academic year a new board is chosen and elected in a General Members Meeting. Want to know who are currently in the board? We’ll let them introduce themselves:
Chair:
Hi everyone! My name is Willemijn Smits and I am happy to be the Chair of the 83rd board. I am in my second year of the Masters Development and Rural Innovation. I have been member of Walhalla for one year now. Last year I really found my place at the Kookcie and really enjoyed all the racketevenings. The skitrip and the WIP were the highlights of my first year. I am looking forward to the upcoming year and I hope to make many more memories with you at Walhalla! 🧡💙
Secretary:
Hoihoi, my name is Merlijn Schuitema and I am very thrilled to be your secetary for this academic year and I am happy to be part of this board! I’ve been playing tennis since I was seven years old and I want to continue that during my study’s, so that is why I joined Walhalla.I am in my second year of international land and water managment here at WUR.This will be my second year at Walhalla ad I am also helping with the TEITcie. One of my favorite Walhalla activities was the external tournaments, SET in Nijmegen was very nice and The WIP, our own external tournament, was one of the highlights from previous year. You can always text me if you have a question (or if you want to play tennis). So I hope to see you all at the Toko driking a beer or on the courts! 💙🧡
Treasurer:
Hi everyone! My name is Teun van Meurs and I am exited to share that I will be the treasurer of Walhalla this year! Trough Walhalla I became very enthusiastic in playing tennis and I am trying to take it to the next level this year. Currently, I am in my second year of the master Resilient Farming and Food Systems at the WUR and this will also be my second year at Walhalla. My highlights of my first year were all the nice evenings eating together during the Kooko and participating in the WIP. Feel free to reach out to me for question and I hope to see you all at Walhalla to play a game of tennis and/or to have a drink! 💙🧡

I am the only board member not studying in Wageningen, as I am doing my masters in clinical kinesiology and medical neuroscience at Radboud University in Nijmegen. I have been playing tennis since I was 5 years old and am one of the tennis nerds of the board. My highlights during my first year were the external tournaments, the skitrip and being one of the photographers for Walhalla events.
